Equine Bedding

Why Chopped Straw?…Traditionally straw in its raw form is perceived as hard to work with, dusty, bulky, time consuming…and here at Newbridge Straw our aim is to produce straw based bedding products which overcome these traits. Over time we have developed a processing system which produces a specific length chop of straw to ensure maximum absorbency, and invested heavily in dust extraction to ensure the cleanest possible product. Packaged in 20kg bales and palletised in pallets of 42 bales.

Depending on your preference, the following products are available :

Rape Straw

Extremely absorbent
Low maintenance system, quick and easy to muck out
Biodegradable (breaks down in 6-8 weeks)
Cost effective due to less wastage, therefore less “top up” required
Smaller muck heap
Sustainable

Wheat Straw

More traditional style bed due to bulkier nature of wheat straw
In its chopped form it has increased absorbency with much less bedding needing to be removed on a daily basis
Biodegradable
Smaller muck heap
Sustainable

Both products are treated with an additive to discourage mould and spores. Either product can be supplied without the additive, or with an alternative choice of additive depending on preference. Please ask for details.
